IWD2021 - Choose to Challenge

8 March marks International Women’s Day around the world, when we celebrate the achievements of women and remind ourselves of the need to further gender balance and inclusion in Sodexo and the communities we are a part of.

This year, the global theme for International Women’s Day is #ChooseToChallenge, a commitment that we will continue to push against the status quo and challenge gender bias when we come across it, to create a more inclusive, gender-balanced workplace. In commemoration of this year’s theme, our employees shared uplifting quotes and personal commitments to drive gender balance. 

#SheWorks

As an organisation, we also partner with the community to drive positive impact. SheWorks is a global initiative by Sodexo. We invite women from the community to shadow Sodexo team members for a day to learn more about the opportunities for economic independence. 

At APAC House in Singapore, we hosted ladies from our Servathon beneficiary, Daughters of Tomorrow, for job-shadowing and learning sessions. Daughters of Tomorrow is a non-governmental organisation in Singapore that supports women from underprivileged and low-income families, partnering with businesses to find employment opportunities and provide the ladies with financial independence. During the #SheWorks sessions, ladies learnt more about the role of the Experience team, including making coffee at our Aspretto coffee counter and improve their interviewing skills in a coaching session with our Talent Acquisition Team.

Building on the success of these interactions, we will continue to make a difference and contribute to an inclusive society!
