Reducing food waste with the Food Bank

Here in Singapore, we have forged a long-term alliance with Food Bank Singapore to spread greater awareness of food waste in the country, collect excess food and food donations, and facilitate food distribution to the disadvantaged in Singapore.

Pledging to purchase surplus food with Yume

In Australia, we've partnered with surplus food wholesaler Yume to divert tonnes of high-quality food from landfills. Yume’s online marketplace allows suppliers and buyers to connect with each other to prevent high quality, edible food from going to waste. Sodexo and Yume first partnered in mid-2018 and Sodexo was the first corporate buyer to make a Yume pledge for future food purchases.

Long-term sustainability partnership with the WWF

Globally, Sodexo has partnered with the WWF since 2010, working toward a 34% reduction in our carbon emissions by 2025 (compared to a 2017 baseline). Together, we have identified four workstreams contributing to achieve the target: Increase the share of “low-carbon” menus, source responsibly, reduce food waste and employee engagement.

Sodexo and nine other world leaders in the food industry founded the 10x20x30 initiative, designed as a step towards the United Nations' SDG Target 12.3. With the goal of efficient collective waste reduction, these partners are working with 20 of their priority suppliers to implement shared waste measurement processes throughout the value chain.
