The Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) is one of the region’s leading sustainable awards platform, recognising outstanding leadership in sustainable business practices. This is the second year in a row that Sodexo has been recognised by this prestigious forum.

“An external recognition such as the SBA, re-affirms Sodexo’s continuous efforts to drive meaningful environmental and societal impact in Singapore and in the region. We want to take this opportunity to thank our clients, customers, suppliers, NGOs, and other stakeholders who we partnered with on the various climate change and social inclusion programs along with our employees, without whom this achievement wouldn’t have been possible.” said Roshith Rajan, Corporate Responsibility Director, Asia Pacific.

The award affirms Sodexo’s initiatives in the sustainability realm.

  • Through Sodexo’s WasteWatch program, Sodexo has successfully reduced food waste in food sites by double digits percentages in Singapore. In May 2019, Group CEO Denis Machuel has further committed to launching the WasteWatch program at 3000 relevant sites around the globe within the next year.
  • Sodexo has developed a comprehensive plan to reduce single-use plastics by 2025, starting with single-use plastic straws in 2019.
  • Through Sodexo’s in-house Barista Training Program, youths with special needs gain the opportunity for training and employment in Sodexo’s café operations.
  • A strong advocate of gender diversity, Sodexo is partnering with a local NGO to empower women.
  • Sodexo has also developed an employee training program to educate about sustainable practices that include food and packaging waste.

Sodexo’s commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility is a source of differentiation that drives employee engagement and responds to changing consumer expectations. Corporate Responsibility is anchored in its roadmap, the Better Tomorrow 2025 Roadmap, paving the way for positive change on the environment and local communities.
