Singapore, 11 October 2018 – Sodexo, world leader in Quality of Life services has been awarded Most Socially Responsible Company of the Year by the Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability Awards (ACES). The prestigious awards recognises companies and individuals in Asia across leadership and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Sodexo’s win comes on the back of Better Tomorrow 2025, the company’s holistic corporate responsibility roadmap that outlines its commitments to helping the environment, communities and individuals. In particular, Sodexo has laid out clear targets to fight hunger and malnutrition, reduce waste and promote diversity and inclusion.

Multiple stakeholder initiatives are carried out across the year, such as:

Local communities: Sodexo works with small businesses and contributes to local economies through the group’s Supply Chain Inclusion Program.

Stop Hunger: Though Stop Hunger, an organisation set up by Sodexo employees to fight hunger and malnutrition, Sodexo has contributed thousands of healthy meals to the underprivileged in Singapore. Globally, the group will impact 100 million people suffering from hunger by 2025. This includes a partnership with the United Nation’s World Food programme to help 125,000 students in India by promoting food hygiene and nutrition and setting up model kitchens in schools.

Waste reduction: Sodexo holds an annual WasteLESS Week, a five-day campaign where the team engages clients and consumers to waste less, recycle more. In 2017, Sodexo was also the supporting partner of Food Bank Singapore’s Project Xcess, a campaign to highlight the large volume of food that Singapore throws away due to cosmetic filtering.

Diversity and inclusion: Sodexo practices an equal-opportunity-for-all in hiring and promotion. This includes driving female leadership and expanding access to employment and training to people with disabilities.
