Every year, around April to June, Malaysia employees join Sodexo teams worldwide in organising Stop Hunger Servathon activities. Servathon is an annual community-based event with the aim of stopping hunger and malnutrition in local communities. Through these activities, we contribute to those in need and also enable them to make better food choices to power them into the future.

Servathon is an annual community-based event with the aim of stopping hunger and malnutrition in local communities. Through these activities, we contribute to those in need and also enable them to make better food choices to power them into the future.
During Servathon, we invite all employees to lend a helping hand in organizing activities such as food donation, fund-raising activities, donation booths, cooking classes, nutrition talks and many more.
Our roots in community engagement run deep. Since 2017, Sodexo Malaysia supported our client, Zurich Insurance Group, in their Eat Right to Play Right (ERTPR) Programme to give back to the community. ERTPR programme aims to improve the nutritional knowledge of children to reduce reducing obesity and malnutrition. Leveraging on the power of football and Malaysians’ passion for the sport, the ERTPR programme uses football as a platform to educate children, the future of our nation, on the importance of nutrition as well as instil self-discipline and sportsmanship.
We’ve supported ERTPR program on nutrition education and cooking demonstrations for young children to empower them to prepare easy, healthy, and balanced meals. ERTPR program managed to reach a total of 1,618 children from 34 communities in Peninsular and East Malaysia in 2017.
In 2020, in collaboration with Zurich and Mydin, Sodexo’s chef, together with footballer Safee Sali, showed that cooking good food is both simple as well as inexpensive. Check out this video where they introduced two well-loved dishes - Bayam Tumis (Stir-fry Spinach) and Kari Ayam Peratal (Dry Chicken Curry).
In 2021, due to the ongoing Malaysia Movement Control order, we moved with our engagement activities online. We organised a virtual “Walk to Stop Hunger”, mobilising 216 of our employees across the nation. Over 14 days, participants tracked their steps and managed to clock 10.6 million steps, beating the original goal. Having surpassed the milestone, Sodexo will be making a donation to Food Aid Foundation, a food bank in Malaysia that rescues surplus food and distribute them to people in need.
The future is ours to shape, and we will continue to partner with community organisations to contribute meaningfully.
